The Technology
Orbital Robotics technology has all the advantages that we’re seeking for in pipe work; the unique clamping system finds automatically the direction of the clamped pipe, the stresses created in the machine parts are very low and the number of axes on the machine is reduced to 4 (in the most general case). It is not the reduction in number of axes that makes the difference but the fact that its axes are logical for the specific type of work. This makes the operation intuitive for the operator and light for the electronic control system. Orbital Robotics Robot is a flexible platform dedicated for pipe work; it will be the core technology for several levels of product design all complying with the following principle guidelines: • A basic Robot that can perform a large variety of operations on cylindrical (or “close to cylindrical”) bodies of any diameter starting at 4”.
The robot consists of three major components:

A master vehicle that is equipped with motors, control systems and robotic arm(s) with at least 4 wheels designed to move on a cylindrical surface in a consistent path. |

Wheeled extensions that can be chained to the master device and are equipped with gearing that enables driving their wheels synchronized with the master device’s wheels. |

Locking/tensioning device that enables achievement of a close loop chain around the work piece that is built for fast engaging/disengaging while keeping constant tension in the entire chain. |

In a typical task the configuration consists of at least one master vehicle, at least two extensions and usually one locking device. |
Orbital Robotics system will make every shape-marking or shape-cutting job at the same ease that an office plotter will draw a graphical curve because in fact the basic machine is a plotter!! It works with similar reference to x-y planar sheet metal cutters, except for the fact that it acts on a cylindrical surface; the advantage of the special clamping system is that it enables making a very compact and lightweight robot that has the property of finding the optimal relation to the pipe axis right after being installed on the pipe.
The pipe working device, measuring system, the software and other elements are filled as patents and will be remote serviced. with reduced costs |
